Camera shots
Extreme Close-up
Extreme close-ups are usually shots of close up body parts for example, eyes, mouth, ear , nose, toe finger etc. These type of shots are normally used for more intensity and intimacy. Or to draw attention to a certain object to show its importance.
Close-up
Close-ups are usually used to show emotions and facial expressions of characters to show how they're feeling at that moment in time. They are also used to show significant objects.
Medium (mid) shot
Medium shots are shots taken from the waist up. They are used as they are more comfortable, neutral, simple and easy to rely on. They are also good for showing body language and showing the scene.
Medium Long shot
Medium Long shots are usually of characters showing their body language, costume and the scene surrounding them. This shot is usually taken of the figure just above the knees.
Long shot/Establishing shot
This shot is used to establish where the character is and puts you in that place. It shows you who is there and where they are.
Extreme Long shot
Shows the scene where the film is taking place or to show the characters relationship within the environment.
